Would you rather give up chocolate or cheese?
(if you had to give one up)

This question was put forth on Serious Eats, a food blog I often read. While I thought this one would be tough, surprisingly, the answer comes quite easily for me. I would give up chocolate before I gave up cheese. I love chocolate, but cheese is the clear winner for me.

What do you think?

  1. Who would EVER give up cheese?! I am so glad that you finished the HP book- I am excited to chat about it w/ you, too! BTW, I am still trying "Middlesex," although I am progressing slowly because I don't have much free time! :) It's interesting and I do find myself wanting to read more. Miss you- Hugs, Amy

  2. Ohh sweet cheese...how could I ever bid you farewell? But chocolate, you sinful siren whore -I am happily your gimp. There would be several factors to consider if I was ever to be faced with this evil ultimatum. Romantically speaking, cheese pairs so perfectly with a nice wine and a cool, fall evening. Though even when melted smooth, can not be - should not be - seductively drizzled over your lover's bosom. Unless you are in love with a pickle. Or a plate of nachos. On the other hand, chocolate is so...portable. Whether in class, at work, in the car, walking, chocolate delivers the comfort, the buzz, and, funny enough, the calm that you need. Aside from the stringed variety, pulling out a hunk of muenster in rush hour or a wheel of ghouda in a theatre doesn't always seem to work. And those aren't even stinky! Alas, I am a diabetic and find that running away with my cocoa companion would surely be the end of me. Really. So I must say, "I'll take cheese, please." And if you agree: SWM, 31, cheese-lover seeking perfect pickle. Plus-size a plus.

BTW - I, too, tried middlesex (in college.) It was cool. An experience. I mean, I don't regret it or anything, but I wouldn't do it again.

  3. You sure are my daughter, cheese surely wins for me. Chocolate is only an occasional craving.
